Christian Henderson, Director
I hopped around a lot earlier in life, but spent most of my time in the Midwest, and home was just outside of Kansas City, MO. I studied at Missouri State University for two semesters, and then attended a 1-year Bible institute in Kansas City. After that I worked in Amsterdam (Netherlands) for six months at The Shelter, a Christian youth hostel in the Red Light District.
When I returned to the US, I headed to Wheaton College, and graduated 1995 with a BA in Philosophy and a minor in German. While at Wheaton I became very involved with prison ministry, participating in several Bill Glass “Weekend of Champions” events, and leading a group of students to Florida for prison ministry. Additionally, I was on the cabinet of Christian Service Council, serving as leader of the Correctional Division.
After graduation, I worked for a nationwide prison ministry for 18 months, then moved to California to help Alpha Academy get started. In prison ministry, my focus was on helping people after they had make bad choices in life. At Alpha, I am committed to helping young men learn to make good decisions before they get off course.
Jack and I share most of the responsibilities for Alpha Academy, including curriculum development, administration.
My wife, Deborah, and I have been married since 1995, and we have two boys, Caleb (born 1996) and Ezra (born 1999). We love living on the Central Coast, and enjoy hiking, going to the beach, hanging out with our church family, and wrestling with our boys!
